Join us for The Sunshine Ball, a fun and worthwhile evening of live music, dancing, and revelry hosted by The Arizona Women's History Alliance and The Dirty Drummer!
Become a part of history by donating towards erecting the first statue of a woman on state land. Frances Willard Munds mobilized Arizona women in 1912 to fight for their right to vote. Munds was President of the Arizona Equal Suffrage Association from 1909 to 1912, as well as our first female state senator.
A ballot initiative to give women the right to vote in Arizona was approved by more than 60 percent of voters on November 5, 1912, eight years before the passage of the 19th Amendment. Arizona was the eighth state to grant women the right to vote.
On April 23, 2019, Governor Doug Ducey signed HB 2183 (the Frances Munds Suffrage Memorial) into law. This means her statue can now stand on Wesley Bolin Plaza! We are raising funds for the cost of the statue.
Live Music from Dime Store Western and more! Western-wear encouraged! $10 at the door, to benefit the fund. 7pm-2am
